Capital Blues

World Tandem Ensemble is a great convergence of musical minds scattered across Te Ika a Māui, coming together to say what's up.

This group is an opportunity to hear six unique perspectives detailing the commonality of music and life. Off the back of a successful stint in Tāmaki Makaurau, Pōneke is returning the favour and welcoming World Tandem Ensemble for a hip gig at Hackett's.

Iggy Nama Ruci is the group's powerful multidisciplinary voice, fresh off of tours in India and South Africa on the alto and baritone saxophones, and the flute.

Finn Mcneill - best known for his Tāmaki Makaurau work with Roger Manins and Jeff Henderson - is the group's tour de force drummer. With a shining poetic rhyme, get ready to be sent to space!

Auckland's Ryan Tomov on bass and piano is one of the leading harmonic innovators of Aotearoa. Get ready!

Dunedin's Isaac Randel is an award-winning superpower of saxophone, bringing inspirations of the post-Coltrane era to the ensemble, whilst still adding his unique sound in his improvisation.

Miro Holland's award-winning trumpet has garnered him a reputation as a wholly unique player. With his effortlessly emotive linguistic approach to the horn, he adds a bold dynamic to this fresh group.

Jack Harris is one of the leading bassists in the country. His complete knowledge of his instrument allows complex changes in sound and style. He absolutely plays from the heart.

See you on the 15th of October!
