A neighbourhood restaurant transforms into Yeabsley's jazz den for one night.

A short unwanted interview with Daniel Yeabsley:

“Musicians should be like plumbers, or cooks,” expounds Dan Yeabsley in an unsolicited rant to this unwilling interviewer. “The plumbers job is to plumb, and the cooks job is to cook. QED the musicians job is to music.”

I wince and try to introduce myself- “Excuse me Mr Yeabsley…”

“Why aren’t you writing this down? Don’t you have a pencil?” I try to explain that I’m actually here to read the meter, but it’s too late he’s off, “modern Jazz has turned into the musical equivalent of String-Theory: a nebulous mathematical escapade of dubious value that is enjoyed by no-one. The sooner it returns to its no-nonsense roots of hard-swinging music that is best enjoyed with a pint in one hand and a whisky in the other, the better! Now come inside and I’ll give you my short 10 hour introduction to the genius of Lester Young."

I hastily pencil ‘help me’ onto a nearby pigeon and follow Mr Yeabsley into his jazz den.
Featuring Ben Wilcock on piano, Mat Enright on trumpet, Mike Jenson on drums.
