Blending Pacific roots with bold experimentation, LEAO is the project of David Feauai-Afaese, joined by bassist Navakatoa Tekela-Pule, Hawaiian-steel guitarist Levi Gemmell, and drummer Larsen Tito-Taylor. With a spirit deeply grounded in fa‘asamoa and a passion for new sonic terrain, their sound has been described as “niu wave” and “Pacific neo-psychedelia”.

Since the release of their acclaimed debut Ghost Roads (2019), LEAO has continued to expand its vision—most recently with the shimmering 2024 single “TAEAO / MEA UMA”, a glimpse into their upcoming full-length album.

Sharing the stage is Romi Wrights, a Tokelauan singer-songwriter whose incandescent voice channels the soul and funk energy of the late 1960s. Raised in Porirua and the Hutt Valley, Romi has honed her artistry through gospel, funk, and soul projects, collaborations with top New Zealand musicians, and standout performances including CubaDupa and opening for soul legend Lee Fields.
