Pianist, artist, and composer Ian Logan returns with bassist Alistair McLeod for a deeply moving performance inspired by the theme of compassion. Their programme opens with a rich tribute to the blues in all its forms—raw and gutsy, melancholy and joyful.

The second half, Pieces of Peace, explores the universal longing for harmony and transformation, drawing inspiration from Bill Evans, Horace Silver, and the eclectic sensibility of Charlie Haden. Blending originals, jazz standards, and works shaped by classical and European singer-songwriter traditions, the set also features the premiere of a multi-media tribute to German expressionist artist Käthe Kollwitz.

Audiences can expect music that revels in emotional depth, from the intimacy of slow adagios to the power of improvisation. Between sets, enjoy light refreshments and an art exhibition—a thoughtful counterpoint to the evening’s music. Koha is welcome to support Island Bay Presbyterian Church’s community outreach.
