Brynzilian Big Band
The Brynzilian Big Band is a 17-piece powerhouse jazz orchestra founded and led by saxophonist Bryn van Vliet.
Based in Wellington, Bryn is a multi-disciplinary artist known for his dynamic career as an instrumentalist (saxophone, woodwinds, vocals), performer, composer, arranger, and educator.
As a founding member of TOI and former lead alto saxophonist for the Rodger Fox Big Band, he has earned a reputation as a versatile and sought-after musician.
The Brynzilian Big Band presents fresh, vibrant compositions inspired by iconic Brazilian music styles such as Samba, Bossa Nova, and Forró. Bryn’s writing reflects his deep affection for Brazilian music, while honoring its traditional roots and spirit.
