Alex Trask: Coltrane's Soprano
Alex Trask presents a special tribute to John Coltrane, performing tunes that he played on soprano saxophone.
“Coltrane’s soprano has been hugely influential to me as an alto player and musician. His sound on the instrument is so unique and special, it’s been a touchstone for me for years. I remember being absolutely captivated by his playing on the untitled originals when Both Directions at Once came out, when I was still a beginner player. My Favourite Things is one of my most loved albums, and 'Everytime We Say Goodbye' from that record is some of my favourite saxophone playing ever.”
The band will play classics such as 'My Favourite Things' and 'Greensleeves', as well as tunes from the albums Both Directions at Once, Duke Ellington & John Coltrane, and Impressions.
