Voyage Into the Abyssal Plain: Jake Baxendale and friends (AUS/NZ)
Between Australia and New Zealand lies the Tasman Abyssal Plain, an immense ocean basin teeming with marine life and distinguished by exceptional geological formations: taking this mysterious environment between the two countries as inspiration, Jake Baxendale has convened a quartet of immense talent from Sydney and Wellington to plumb the depths of their shared musical experiences, which in some cases stretch back nearly 20 years.
The set will comprise original music from across the band, drawing on their collective aesthetics of pioneering 21st century jazz and improvised music from the South Pacific.
