The Cranberry Trio have an exciting and original style, shaped by years of playing together.
Their musical influences and philosophies have formed a shared interest in exploring collective improvisation, rhythmic complexity, and melodic interplay.
Influenced by the sounds and theories of Ornette Coleman (most notably his theory of harmolodics), Anthony Braxton, John and Alice Coltrane and Derek Bailey, The Cranberry Trio will present a set entirely made up of their original compositions. Some tunes unearthed for the first time for curious ears to discover at The Undercurrent this Wellington Jazz Festival.
This Tāmaki Makaurau-based trio features Iggy Nama Ruci (alto saxophone), Ryan Tomov (upright bass), and Finn McNeill (drums).
