Song For Iqbal, Song For Pat – Miro Holland Group

After a stellar year, an album release and Australia/Aotearoa tour, Miro Holland Group returns to the Festival with special guests. The band grew up learning to play together, Miro's compositional theory is an attempt at highlighting that history.

Song For Iqbal, Song for Pat is a dedication to both the philosopher Muhammad Iqbal -a major creative and moral influence for Miro - and to Miro's Great Aunt Pat, whose life was lived entirely in the service of others. Both figures are moral influences for Miro, though at different points in his development.

Tonight, the group will feature two very special guests:
Lucas Kewell, an internationally acclaimed pianist fresh from completing studies at the renowned JAZZCAMPUS in Basel, Switzerland and Patrick Bleakley, who has appeared on many internationally acclaimed albums, and had a legendary stint in the infamous Aotearoa group BLERTA. Also featuring: Ateo Buhne – drums, Iggy Nama Ruci – saxophone, Miro Holland - trumpet  and composition, and Theo Thompson – guitar.
