Northern Skies Project at Cuba St Tavern

A quartet direct from Tāmaki Makaurau, Northern Skies Project pays tribute to the sounds and scapes of Northern Europe.

Inspired by the music of ECM, Jakob Bro and Ella Zirina, this fresh ensemble reflects the fjords, clear waters and icy forests of Scandinavia in its spacious yet meditative grooves. Energised by his experiences in Northern Europe, bassist Claude Wedde brings pieces from the most promising and newest talents from the North as well as his own compositions inspired by his travels.

Featuring David Fromont on trombone, Bill Liu on guitar and Minho Choi on drums, this group brings the best of young jazz from the Northern and Southern hemispheres.
