Zoe Ioannou - Meraki

During the Wellington Jazz Festival 2021, Zoe Ioannou set in motion a project that encompassed her love of jazz and traditional Greek music entitled ‘Meraki’. The word itself is one that modern Greeks often use to describe doing something with soul, creativity, or love, when you put "something of yourself" into what you're doing, whatever it may be. That was certainly the view of a sold out audience at Meow in what has been described as one of the highlights of the festival.

Zoe has spent the last 3 months living/performing and writing new music in Greece and returns to the Wellington Jazz Festival to perform it with her all star ensemble ‘Meraki’. The music has an appeal not only to the large global Greek diaspora of New Zealand, but also with lovers of jazz and acoustic music everywhere.
