Long-time friends and collaborators Mel Ansell and Liz Hocking join forces to present an evening of original poetry and music. Inspired by and entangled in their shared friends and communities, they ask how we can heal and collaborate within systems designed to warp. Working in the fields of jazz and poetry, their work is prompted by and responds to one another to explore the possibilities of integrated stage-sharing.
Mel is a poet with an MA in Creative Writing from the IIML. Liz is a saxophonist and composer performing across a range of bands in Pōneke. Mel and Liz are joined by Phoebe Johnson on bass and Ayrton Foote on piano for this performance.
