Freewheeling jazz standards from the celebrated saxophonist and his quartet

Saxophonist Jake Baxendale presents a set of free-wheeling standards, from burning swing to tear-jerking ballads to off-kilter renditions of jazz classics, with his quartet featuring Aleister Campbell (guitar), Johnny Lawrence (bass) and Cory Champion (drums).

Jake is well known in Wellington for his involvement in modern jazz groups The Jac, Antipodes, the Arthur Street Loft Orchestra and party-time bands such as Richter City Rebels, JB3 and Bazurka. Lesser known is his penchant for ripping on some jazz standards, both classic and esoteric. Quartet gigs like this are an opportunity to hear him and his group dig deep into music with no strings attached!
