An icon of West Coast cool jazz, Chet Baker rose to fame in '50s with his lyrical trumpet lines and spare, romantic singing.
After being handpicked for a West Coast tour with Charlie Parker, he burst onto the scene as a member of Gerry Mulligan's piano-less quartet, whose recording of "My Funny Valentine" made him a star even beyond his cult jazz audience.
For a one night only, The Zak Pack featuring Michael Costelloe on Trumpet will play homage to this great icon with some of his most notable vocal tunes that propelled him into fame (such as Let's Get Lost, My Funny Valentine, Time After Time, Look For the Silver Lining and many more) along with some instrumental collaborations he had with Gerry mulligan's band.
This show features the smooth vocals of Zak Dikvert, an accomplished jazz guitarist and vocalist for over 30 years. His smooth vocal texture and unique interpretation to lyrics transforms each song to a musical experience, accompanied by the finest musicians in Wellington, makes this band a MUST SHOW!
