Call it Anything: Neal Palmer

These diptych paintings made in the past few years are the final move from making images of landscapes or still lifes. They have some parallels with the process of making jazz as they are the product of working out the problems of composition as the painting develops. The titles were added after the final result and sometimes refer to places or music that I have recently listened to and are of little importance. Call it Anything refers to the famous quote from Miles Davis at the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival.

The exhibition is at the Ryan Room Gallery, Home of Compassion, 2 Rhine Street, Island Bay and is available during the opening hours of the adjacent Cloister Cafe.
