The Wellington Wikipedia of jazz is back
Widely recognised as one of New Zealand's best free jazz drummers of his generation, Ant is a virtual encyclopaedia when it comes to jazz. Anthony's talk this time is on 20 unknown musicians and the reverberating influence they have on jazz.
A fixture of Wellington's musical landscape, a pioneer in this country's experimental and jazz scenes, drummer Anthony Donaldson has spent the last 40 years honing his technique and he has been at the forefront of the improvised music scene in Wellington since forming Primitive Art Group in the early ’80s. Since then he has appeared on more than 40 different recordings, but he's never counted the bands he's been in – they could number in the hundreds.
Presented in association with Momo.
